Inputs for the design of a Wildlife Conservation Strategy for Africa
The full provision of services to be delivered is 200 working days, on average 40 days for each expert.
The experts will be allowed to work during weekends and public holidays in order to deliver outputs in the requested timeframe.
The team will be made up of 5 senior experts, 4 specialists for each of the African regions (West Africa, central Africa, East Africa/Horn of Africa, southern Africa) and a biodiversity protection expert (TL) with an excellent knowledge of South East Asia, and China in particular, as the main consumer markets of ivory and rhino horns, and excellent communication skills.
Requirements:
- degree in natural sciences or equivalent (Ph.D. or MSc minimum)
- over 10 years field experience in conservation programs.
For the experts in charge of West and Central Africa fluency in French and English is obligatory (spoken and written).
- experience of 4 of the proposed experts must cover the geographical zones in question. They should be familiar with the main biodiversity conservation and protected area management issues as well as the key actors.
The mission will begin in October 2013 and will last for 6 months.
