MMG has important growth aspirations in the Africa Region which will be achieved through securing projects and acquisitions identified by the company. Our Exploration team located in Johannesburg is seeking a strongly experienced and professional Senior Safety Health & Environment Advisor to provide leadership in developing, implementation and monitoring Safety & Health throughout our projects within the Africa Region, with a particular focus on Zambia and the DRC. You will support all project managers in coaching and delivering improvement to safety and health programs. As the SHE advisor you will lead site compliance with MMG Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures, and drive SHE initiatives and projects.
As a sucessful incumbent, you will be required to work both independently and within a team having the ability to work with various stakeholders in a challenging environment. Significant travel required throughout Africa and to projects outside of Africa may also be required.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Strong Safety leadership and risk management experience in exploration
- High level of problem solving and decision making skills
- Good command of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Web-Based regulatory reporting systems
- Exposure in coordinating/understanding environmental/community management requirements associated with exploration activities
- A desire to coach and develop others to deliver key safety messages at all levels
To further your success within this role you will have a strong demonstrated background in a similar role with a Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent industry experience. An advanced First Aid Certification or Industrial First Aid Certificate is required with a WSCC Supervisor Level 2 Certificate (or the ability to obtain). You will be an active member of Safety Association in South Africa.
