The Organisation
We’ve been a key investor in Egypt for the last 20 years helping to develop the country’s natural gas industry. Thanks to our role as one of country’s leading foreign investors, we account for 40 per cent of Egypt’s gas production. Today, Egypt is a core country for BG Group a cornerstone of our Atlantic Basin LNG strategy.
Position Summary
This position has been sanctioned by the Egyptian LNG Board of Directors to provide joint venture partner oversite, direction, leadership and management into the daily operations of the 7.5 MMTPA Egyptian LNG processing facility. This site high level position is critical to the safe and effective operation of a key BG JV facility.
Key Accountabilities
This position is to be directly responsible, along with the site Operations Director, for daily operations management of the Egyptian LNG facility (ELNG). The role is to provide the necessary leadership, operational input and day-to-day management guidance and strategy to ensure the LNG trains produce LNG safely ,efficiently, reliably and in an ethical manner. Also, the advisor, in a support role to the OD, is responsible for Asset Integrity/Maintenance, Port Operations, Security, QHSE, Logistics, ICT, Procurement, Projects and Support Services.  This position plays a key role in establishing and integrating site policy, procedure, best practices, standards, guidelines and agenda in line with BG Corporate Objectives. The other BG site secondees reporting through this position will also be aligned in support of the BG corporate objectives. The job holder is required to represent the facility on corporate matters relating to business planning, policy, manpower and budgets. Also, the job holder is responsible for ensuring teamwork and professionalism is developed and maintained amongst all site employees and contractors. In extending broader influence, the candidate is also to work alongside Egyptian LNG senior management personnel to ensure their organizations adopt and successfully implement the Best Practices of the LNG industry world-wide. The job holder is responsible, along with the Operations Director, for ensuring that during abnormal operations such as  project implementation and shutdowns, the plant does not negatively affect the Environment, Safety, Reliability or Efficiency of the existing facility or its neighbours. Finally, the position requires the ability to quickly develop strong relationships with staff, ELNG management, local community, shareholders and board of directors.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Academic Qualifications:
a. Excellent command of English language and computer literate. Knowledge and use of the Arabic language would be a plus but not essential
b. Must have a degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience:
a. The jobholder will have at least fifteen years managerial and at least 5 years senior managerial experience within the Oil and gas industry. Direct experience in other LNG operations would be a strong advantage.  Previous Joint Venture and foreign assignment would be plus.
Proficiency & Experience:
a. The jobholder must have experience with the full integration and management of a number of functions within an organization.
b. Must be articulate and possess a full range of effective management skills, including team-building skills.
c. Have proven experience leading a diverse team in an operational setting.
d. Be proficient in plant operations, production management, production planning, AI/Maintenance, Operational QHSE, Project Management, people skills/management with good experience in supply chain budgeting/planning and human resources. 
Competencies:
a. Capable of managing multiple disciplines within a full Production setting.
b. Well organized with safe work attitude. Must be safety conscious and willing to lead in this critical function.
c.  Must set up and direct effective, efficient, safe operations with very limited oversight and direction from either JV or corporate management.
d. Pride in getting work done within deadlines, as critical to the business.
e. Business oriented in terms of sales contracts, agreements, business plans, budgets, etc.
f.  Capable of setting and leading priorities in line with ELNG mission and vision.
Skills:
Strong skills are needed for effective presentations, language/communications, computer, interpersonal and in addition to the following:
a. Rapid and accurate thinker with good attention to detail.
b. Have an analytical mind to get to root cause of any operational problems related to the division.
c. Must be capable of frequent dealing with non ELNG personnel, such as  upstream gas suppliers; regulatory agencies; vendors, contractors etc. in an professional and effective manner.
d. Identify opportunities for operation optimization and better working practices.
e. Posses a strong can-do caring attitude that fosters trust and good team dynamics.   
Business Support:
a. Must set up, direct, and manage in an effective and efficient manner the site operational activities.
b. Ability to demonstrate strong, dynamic team leadership skills.
c. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, peer group, management and outside interests.
Prior LNG experience would be a notable advantage for the applicant.   The facility is located near to Alexandria, Egypt. The candidate would need to have strong mixed culture experience with notable tolerance for people of other beliefs, culture and traditions.  Speaking and writing the Arabic language would be of benefit although the site is an English language based site.
