The Division Occupational Therapy within the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences wishes to appoint a senior academic who will be expected to provide academic leadership in teaching, research and community engagement, within the fields of mental health and/or community development. Prospective candidates will participate in the full range of academic activities associated with offering quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and research will an expectation. Ongoing engagement in research and development of Divisional research capacity will be embedded in scholarly activities.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor level qualification in Occupational Therapy and a relevant Master’s level qualification
- registrable with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an occupational therapist
- a track record of success in the supervision of postgraduate students
- a good publication record
- appropriate clinical experience.
Recommendations:
- A PhD degree in, or related to the field of occupational therapy or occupational science, will be a strong consideration
- experience in leadership within occupational therapy.
Commencement of duties: January 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter
