Reporting to the Regional Director in Head Quarters, the person will represent, manage and influence Intermón Oxfam (IO) activity in the country and lead internally the international project Single Management Structure (SMS) to ensure that the contribution is aimed at the mission, vision and values of IO with maximum impact, quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, provide and contribute to the building of a national strategic vision and regional strategic vision.
- Define institutional stances, identify the key processes and players in social transformation, define the differential contribution of Intermón Oxfam and design and implement the strategic country plan aimed at generating changes in policies, practical ideas and beliefs in accordance with the priorities of the processes of priority social organisations.
- Lead fundraising actions to ensure the availability of resources for program implementation. -Lead, manage and develop human resources in the office to ensure leadership according to IO model, Senior Management Team in the mission follow up, development and management of staff in the office and team-building.
- Guarantee compliance with the legal regulations in force in the country and application of the institutions Human Resources policies.
- Represent IO both at Oxfam Ethiopia level and other key players, bodies, national media to ensure the differential contribution of Intermon Oxfam to Oxfam International and guarantee the institutional interests, increasing the presence and knowledge of Intermon Oxfam in the country. -Ensure office complies with legal obligations and the Intermon Oxfam security policy to ensure the legality and security of the people at the office and the presence of external people.
Knowledge:
-Of the country in humanitarian, political, economic, social and cultural terms. -Of the most significant processes occurring in the country within a regional and international context . - Of the actors involved in cooperation on a local, regional, national and international level . - Knowledge and capability in the management of multidisciplinary teams to deal with different actors and with multiple agendas that require different levels of coordination and management (internally within IO, partners and allies, co-financing agencies, Spanish cooperation and local and central authorities of the country. - Gender equality, understanding this as being the promotion of equal opportunities and of the participation of women. - Basic IT skills - English perfect knowledge .
Experience:
- Minimum experience of 3 years working in similar positions (with INGOs, social movements or civil organisations) with special emphasis on the prioritised areas of each country.
- Experience in leading emergencies and humanitarian contexts
- Experience in social and cultural awareness to develop fair partnership relations with local organisations at their different levels, thus skills in consultancy, capacity building and monitoring.
- Experience on how to build impact-related strategies with donors, foreign businesses and multilateral bodies as prioritised by IO and Oxfam
- Experience in management, allocation and control of budgets, as well as administrative procedures
- Experience in team management and staff development
Working Conditions:
-Salary: acocording to IO salary scale -Duration of the contract: 1 year could be renew -Insurance: Medical and life insurance -Holidays: 27 days year 2013 -Return ticket to the country origin -Lodging payed by IO in a guest house if not accompanied. If family accompanied 50% lodging covered according to IO standards and medical insurance for the family. -Beginning date: 09 December 2013
