The role
Save the Children has been working in South Sudan for over 25 years in the fields of child protection, child rights and governance, education, health, nutrition and livelihood support. With funding from UNICEF, Save the Children will be implementing a child protection programme in Northern Ba hr el Ghazal and Western Bahr el Ghazal states focusing on family tracing and reunification of separated and unaccompanied minors, psychosocial support for children affected by violence and strengthening community child protection mechanisms as key components of this project. In addition Save the Children hosts the Inter-Agency Child Protection Information Management System (IA CP IMS) that records information about unaccompanied and separated children across all 10 states of South Sudan.
The post-holder will support the IA CP IMS and individual case management through efficient and accurate data entry at national level and through support, training and capacity-building of Data Entry Clerks, social workers and other FTR actors/users in all field locations. The Manager will be the focal point for managing the flow, organisation and analysis of individual cases and will produce monthly, disaggregated statistics and qualitative updates of progress on separation work. In t his capacity, the Manager will also provide ongoing technical support to FTR actors/users in the deployment and ongoing use of RapidFTR—a digital tool designed to streamline and expedite FTR efforts both in the immediate aftermath of a crisis and during ongoing recovery efforts.
Qualifications and experience
- A minimum of a diploma from a recognized institution in IT or other relevant field
- Minimum 3 years working experience in IT/ data management field with an international NGO or other globally recognized institution.
- Previous experience in data management, previous experience of data management/information management systems in child protection programming preferred.
- Proven experience in reporting and statistics
- Previous experience in training and capacity building of staff
- Excellent IT skills including the use of Excel (fundamental) and database software
- Excellent commu nication skills with fluency in written and spoken English. Arabic and other South Sudanese languages an added advantage.
- Excellent team player
- Good problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to plan well, set own targets and meet them
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Willingness to travel and work regularly in field sites with basic standards of living and minimal comfort.
- Commitment to Save the Children policies
- Experience with similar cultural / social contexts in Africa
- Be both self-reliant and have the ability to lead and co-operate with others.
- Be physically fit and be prepared to live in basic conditions for extended periods in field sites.
- Be able to work under minimum supervision to achieve the set objectives.
