OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
To build and lead a dynamic network of communicable diseases and public health experts across WHO and outside partners dedicated to the prevention, control and care of HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria and Tropical Diseases.

Purpose of the Post:
The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining updated data management and reporting system of HIV, TB, Malaria and Tropical Diseases (HTM) at the regional level with emphasis on Malaria Control and Elimination.
Description of duties:
Organizational Context:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Adviser, Malaria Control and Elimination (MCE), and general guidance of the Coordinator for HIV, TB, Malaria and Tropical Diseases (HTM) and the Director, Communicable Disease Prevention and Control (DCD).

Summary of Assigned Duties:
1. Design, develop and maintain the regional electronic data management systems that address the need of Malaria and other diseases in HTM cluster.
2. Design and prepare regional disease profiles in coordination with technical units under HTM cluster with emphasis on Malaria Control and Elimination and Communicable Diseases.
3. Prepare, upload, update and sustain the related data and information, in coordination with Evidence Based Health Situation and Trend Assessment (EST) unit and HTM related web pages.
4. Provide technical support to Member States to facilitate training activities on communicable diseases data management, and to develop national databases for related diseases.
5. Share data and information with HQ and other WHO Regional Offices.
6. Coordinate data management activities and exchange of data with countries and international partners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential:
University degree in data management related fields (computer, communication and electronics).

Desirable:
Training certificate from a recognized institute in using a variety of software programmes and data management programmes.
Skills:

Functional Skills and Knowledge:
1. General background in communicable disease surveillance with background on biostatistics.
2. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, methodology and techniques of designing data management programmes.
3. Excellent knowledge in analysing vector borne diseases data, particularly communicable diseases.
4. Excellent capacity for conducting training.

Other Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office, database management and web design software.
Experience:
Essential:
At least one year of experience in designing and management of data bases and data warehousing.

Desirable:
- Experience in designing and development of data collection and management tools for communicable disease surveillance.
- Experience in using GIS tools and statistical software.
- Experience with WHO software applications.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic.
