Education in Angola is currently undergoing an intensive process of recovery and reform after the war period that decimated its education system. Its current efforts are geared towards the achievement of universal quality primary education in line with the agreements of Education for All.
The purpose of this consultancy is to produce an advocacy tool on Child Friendly Schools (CFS) best practices to inform the Government at National, Provincial and Municipal levels and relevant education partners about the benefits of the CFS initiative.
Expected Deliverables:
A Toolkit for Child Friendly Schools Initiative in Angola, which includes photos and descriptive accompanying text. Ideally, the toolkit will consist of a folder with 7 double-sided inserts as follows:
•Folder: This will be the cover that should contain photos and minimal text for the Title of the Toolkit, etc. •Insert 1: Welcome Message, General Background and Context about Education in Angola and the CFS initiative •Inserts 2 – 7: The CFS-pPrinciples Schools Should be: •Insert 2: Principle 1: Based on the Rights of Children •Insert 3: Principle 2: Based on Quality Teaching and Learning •Insert 4: Principle 3: Safe and Secure •Insert 5: Principle 4: Gender Sensitive •Insert 6: Principle 5: Promoting Healthy and Hygienic Environments •Insert 7: Principle 6: Actively encouraging the participation of communities
UNICEF will provide the text and photos for the toolkit. The consultant is expected to lay the relevant content out for each insert using an A4 format, black and white text and color photos. The consultant is also expected to create a folder with photos, images and text that will hold all seven inserts.

Required qualifications/expertise
•Broad familiarity with UNICEF programmes •Educational background in Design preferred with minimum 3 years’ experience •Excellent design skills and ability to present information in an easily readable and simple layout •Excellent working command of Portuguese is essential (if not proficient in Portuguese, consultant should include in the proposal a sub/contract for a translation service) •Prior experience in preparing UNICEF toolkits targeting government would be considered an asset.
