Consultant Research Associate, Aid Worker Security Database
Humanitarian Outcomes seeks a Research Associate (RA) to manage and maintain the Aid Worker Security Database (AWSD) and perform related research and data analysis for Humanitarian Outcomes’ published products in the area of operational security.
Duties
• On a daily basis, compile and crosscheck security incidents from all project sources
• On a weekly basis, enter relevant incidents from the running list to the database
• Verify all incidents with affected entities twice per year
• Continually review AWSD entries to edit/augment as necessary to ensure completeness of information and consistency of coding
• Keep website updated with new materials, links, etc.
• In consultation with Senior Researchers respond to user information requests and press queries
• Maintain open communication channels and good working relationships with field-level partners
• Seek out and propose additional potential partners and information sources
• Propose new website features, functions, design element ideas as needed to maximum usefulness and usability
• Track website traffic and readership of AWSD products
• Support dissemination/communications strategies; maintain up to date relevant stakeholders and media list
• Assist in quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Perform other administrative tasks as needed
Requirements
• Graduate level degree, or progress towards degree, in international politics or related field
• Graduate level course work in inferential statistics
• Advanced Excel skills (including ability to run regressions)
• Excellent written and spoken English (French or Arabic ability a plus)
• Familiarity with Drupal content management software preferred
Timeframe (fixed-term contract)
