Shelter Centre is looking for a motivated intern to join its current IT Team. . The role is a unique opportunity for a young professional to assist an international humanitarian organisation that places information technology at the centre of its approach and priorities. After their internships at Shelter Centre, many interns have gone on to work in the shelter sector for humanitarian agencies, including CARE International, Cordaid, DFID, MSF, IFRC, IOM, Oxfam and UNHCR.
The successful applicant will be part of a small and dynamic team and will, depending upon their skills and the phase of the project, contribute to:
System Administration:
- Ongoing internal system monitoring, maintenance and administration
- Internal network infrastructure
- Network attach storage
- Windows-based workstations, user accounts, software
- Google Apps accounts management
- Asset tracking and documentation
Required Experience:
- Fluent English (minimum Level C1 proficiency)
- Good communication, interpersonal skills and sense of humour
- Excellent general IT literacy, with a qualification in IT, or in the process of obtaining one
- Proactive in identifying problems and carrying solutions through
- Able to coordinate tasks between larger team and complete assignments with minimal supervision
- Systems Administration
- Sound knowledge of networking

The intern position is located in Geneva, Switzerland. Shelter Centre will only consider applications from individuals from the EU, Switzerland and who possesses a valid permit which allows them to reside and undertake internships in Switzerland.
This position will be on a full time basis. Shelter Centre is not currently in a position to remunerate this internship. Candidates will have to bear their own accommodation and living costs and must also be able to commit themselves for a minimum of three months.
