The International Economic Growth Division manages projects that are pioneering new approaches to agriculture, food security, climate change, and competitiveness—as well as monitoring and evaluating projects within these sectors. We work throughout Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East for chiefly governmental clients, including the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Minimum Qualifications:
MA/MBA with 15+ years of experience OR PhD with 10 - 15 years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead the trade & transport enabling environments component, including transportation and logistics, regulatory integration and trade facilitation. Identify existing transportation and trade policy constraints, including across value chain assessments of barriers that impact all products crossing borders. Lead the component in providing training, expertise, analysis and capacity building to public institutions and private sector associations to support and advance a regional trade and transportation reform agenda.
Skills Prerequisites:
An advanced degree (MS/MA level or above) in a discipline relevant to international business, international law, agricultural economics and trade development. Fifteen (15) years of progressively more responsible experience in international law, customs and trade policy, business development and competitiveness. Five (5) years of substantive previous experience directly managing USAID or similar other donor operational programs. Fluency in English and French is required.
Other Desired Qualifications:
Previous work experience, directly or indirectly, with other USG trade and business competitiveness agencies (e.g. USTR, Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Agriculture, etc.). Prior work experience in West Africa or other parts of Africa.
