CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance.
CARE Somalia program is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of Education Manager for our upcoming education project in South Central Somalia.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Programme Coordinator – Urban Youth Program, the manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the grant. He/she will work closely with the Directorate of Education within the Ministry of Human Development and Public Service (MoHD&PS) and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of the project activities in South Central and coordinate with the other teams working in the North. He/she will be responsible for budget management, reporting and supervision of the South Central Team.

Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum degree in education with at least 5 years’ experience working in conflict/post conflict context and at least 3 years’ experience in a project or program management setting; • Demonstrated experience in working with government in education projects; • Demonstrated experience in program assessments, problem analysis and program design; • Team player, who is able to develop strong collaborative relations across the organization, in both the program and program support departments; • Good leadership and negotiating skills; • Proven capacity of managing programs through partnerships; • Strong gender and conflict analysis skills, and the ability to articulate and design programs using a rights based approach; • Proven budgeting and financial management skills; • Demonstrated ability to motivate and coach field staff.
