Futures Group managed Sexual HIV Prevention Program (SHIPP) in South Africa is a flagship bilateral project of USAID that aims to measurably boost HIV prevention by building the leadership capacity of the Department of Health, Department of Basic Education, Department of Social Development and the South African National AIDS Council to fulfill constitutionally mandated planning, coordination, and implementation responsibilities through the provision of technical assistance.
We are currently hiring a Technical Director (TD) for Engagement and Strategic Planning (ESP) who will be responsible for achieving the objectives in the engagement, strategic planning and decision-making leadership functions of the project. Reporting to the Chief of Party, you will lead the Stakeholder Engagement Team and the Strategic Planning and Decision-making Team and ensure that South Africa Government (SAG) departments’ capacity building needs in these areas are identified and addressed through the SAG collaboration plan and through specific activities in the yearly workplans.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- An advanced degree in health or education policy development, implementation, or evaluation, public health, or other directly related discipline;
- At least five years’ experience in stakeholder involvement, strategic planning using data, and/or leadership;
- Experience in capacity building, training and/or identifying needs to improve capacity;
- Successively responsible positions in SA HIV prevention programs, especially in SANAC, NDOH or DOE;
- At least 5 years demonstrated experience leading large and multidisciplinary teams, especially where teams do not sit together;
- At least 5 years’ experience working with/for international donors, preferably USAID;
- Experience managing donor funded programs or projects in South Africa.
