Analyst - Cape Town Consulate

The U.S. Consulate in Cape Town has vacancies for several individuals for the position of Field Open Source Officer in the Open Source Center/Analyst (OSC).

Minimum Requirements

Basic Function of Position: Open Source Center, an office of the US Consulate in Cape Town, has vacancies several Open Source Officers with the following skills requirements: ·         1 Person with skills in data driven journalism (background in social media research)·         1 East African Analyst·         1 West African Analyst (French required)·         1 Southern African Analyst·         1 Lusophone Analyst (Portuguese required)The successful candidates will monitor regional print, electronic and broadcast media, and prepare written       and multimedia analytic reports on regional developments.  The position also requires a high level of understanding and interest in regional political       developments, as well as the regional media and information environment.  This position requires some weekend and holiday work, and generally       requires multi-year development to reach full performance level.  Occasional travel to support a dispersed mission is possible.    Description of Duties 1.      Monitor regional print, electronic and broadcast media and translate items.2.      Research and write analytic reports on regional developments.3.      Ability to learn video/Multimedia skills and to use social media extensively.
